Statistical Process Control for Healthcare

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is one of the most useful tools available for improving quality, safety and operational performance in healthcare – yet it remains underused and often misunderstood.

SPC methodology provides a philosophy and framework for data-driven quality improvement. SPC involves the plotting of data over time to detect unusual patterns or variations that might indicate a change or a problem with a (clinical) process or outcome.

To master SPC, it is essential to first understand the underlying theory of variation. Next, proficiency in using software to construct SPC charts is key. We support both needs.
